Right from birth, we’ve naturally grown into having mates. From age mates, to classmates in nursery, primary, secondary and even tertiary institutions. Churches are not exempted as we’re blessed with Sunday Schools, Catechism and baptismal mates. How cool right?
It’s expected of infants to develop teeth at 6 months, say a word or two at 10 months. Crawl and walk at certain periods. And a mother becomes perplexed when her child doesn’t do all these with his mates. Then talks like “biko register him in a school let him join his mates there” begin to appear. We also say and hear speeches like “do you know where my mates are now? Na just condition o.”
Well, what can I say?
You do not have a mate!
You do not have destiny mates, relationship mates, career mates, child-bearing mates, success mates, marital mates, academic mates, etc. You are your own mate.
Haven’t you dined enough on the comparison table? For as long as you’re not stagnant but continually growing at a good pace, revolving positively to fit into modern changes, you are no failure!
I have never read where Jesus said “before you were born I knew you and designed your life to become famous at 18 like Ignatius, marry at 19 like Agnes and have a perfect career at 22 like Kamsi.” I just know He has good thoughts and promising endings for us.
Again, you no get mate!
But if you insist on same moves with your ‘mates’ you can also check out your death mates, sickness mates, prison mates, poison and accident mates. Be sure to give me feedback.
Trust the process, endure the never ending pressure bur be sure to keep moving. With god and consistency, darling you’re neither too early nor too late in life. You’re perfectly on time.
