"O don't be a loser Chike. If Ayi chooses to offer it to you then you have to take it" said Cano to him. "It's highly disrespectful to refuse a girl, a beautiful one at that" he added. Chike was caught in the middle of two choices; very wrong choices at that—take Ayi while her offer still lasts or go for Bimbo.
In a system where nobody persecutes anyone for offering up herself or himself willingly, Chike's worry wasn't the act in itself but with whom will he carryout such evil act that even the law supports.
Ayi is giving herself freely, no collateral whereas Bimbo, who he really wants, is playing hide and seek. If he lets his obsession for Bimbo drive him, he'll end up in court charged for rape but if he accepts Ayi's 'burnt offering', he'll walk a free man—but without satisfaction.
He never saw the act as evil, but saw Ayi's offering as unpleasant and unfit though free, and saw Bimbo as a hidden treasure he desires but is situated on a remote island with no map or guideline whatsoever to its location. If only he knew that both will eventually lead him to a court; a different kind of court.
