EXCEPT YOU WERE NEVER THERE

I speak to you as one who knows
Against you does the harsh wind blow
Darkness has been arrayed in a row
These forces striving to bring you low
Dark forces on your sea ever sailing
Plotting just to keep you wailing
They will not stop till you're in the drain
Even as far as washing your brain
If it so happens that you fall
O watchman high up the wall
If you step out of the path
Because of a broken heart
If you lose your directions
Due to misguided affections
If your knowledge proves insufficient
And your practices aren't efficient
Then O watchman
Redirect your will
That you may run towards The Hill
Do not give in to the weakness
Rather acknowledge that illness and in His tenderness
He will see to your business

Run O soldier!
For strongly your will must call
Bringing your weaknesses into The Royal Hall
That the Judge will hear them all
For as long as there is breath in you
Then condemnation can be put away from you
And salvation be returned to you
And of course, the glorious state back to you
Run back O soldier!
Cry out O watchman!
Except it was all a lie
All the passion and affection
You were seen on the wall
You were found among the ranks
Except you were never there
Fall back soldier
Climb up watchman
I beckon unto thee
Weren't you there before?

A call to return to originality
