HERE COMES MAY

One would say
"make hay while the sun shines"
so you can make your shine
but it's funny one may say
how before the month of may
these little stars
all in a class
have such little idea
of what the future holds so dear.
Before the month of may
they are filled with limited enthusiasm
each seeking to survive the present
but here comes May
and here goes Hay.
It's time to pass the Entrance
and these little stars are cured of ignorance.
One by one, they begin to show signs of distress
"It's May!"
Our little stars say.
They dwelt too much on the present
but here comes the Future.
They built stamina,
so much stamina but not enough for the Future.
January was good but he's gone.
February was said to be lovely, but not love-filled.
March and April were revealing,
but were not seen to be refreshing.
Now, here comes May.
Oh! We should have truly made Hay while the sun shone
but sadly, here comes May.

I love the rhyming of sounds and the truths hidden in between the casual lines

  3. Hey Sam, I love the rhythm of this one, the simplicity of this truth told is refreshing and unlike truths pleasing to the ear.
    Lovely piece Sam
